Blue Highway

September 16, 2013 by Julie 91 Comments

Good morning! How are you guys doing today? I hope you had a great weekend and were able to catch up on some sleep.

After an eventful Saturday afternoon spent mountain biking, Ryan and I changed and met up with some friends for dinner.

Stitch Fix Dress

I wore my latest StitchFix (<— referral link!) dress (along with an awkward smile) which I immediately fell in love with when it arrived in the mail on Thursday. It’s incredibly soft and comfortable and seems like a great fit for a casual dinner with friends or running errands around town.

I also ended up keeping a bracelet from the same package.

I love the chunky look of the bracelet and the pop of gold! (And yes, I need to update the date on my watch.)

Eight of us met at Blue Highway, a new pizza restaurant that we’ve heard a lot of great things about from several people.

Ryan and I arrived first and ordered appetizers for everyone to share, including a bruschetta and hummus plate and seasoned fries.

While we waited for our friends to arrive, our waitress asked if we wanted to sample some beer and when we said yes, she brought us two little plastic salad dressing cups of beer. I thought she brought us shots of warm butter at first!

Ha!

For my entrée, I started with a basic salad and then Ryan and I shared the Rustica Sicilian pizza.

Though the pizza was good, Ryan and I agreed that we prefer traditional pizza with lots of cheese, not just random dollops of cheese. Next time we’ll order thin crust and make sure there’s lots of cheese sprinkled on top!

Following our dinner, four of us went to the Charlie Horse, a local bar to see one of Ryan’s coworkers’ band play live.

They played lots of Tom Petty, so I loved it!

It was a great Saturday night!

On Sunday, Ryan and I woke up for the early church service before ordering breakfast at a local coffee shop and running errands around town.

Once we made it home, we spent hours cleaning our house. I got in the cleaning zone and kept going and going. I even organized our pantry! Woop! I love going into the week with a clean house. I am not one of those people who got the “clean gene” and loves cleaning, so when the “I need to clean” feeling hits, I roll with it.

I hope your Monday is off to a good start!

Questions of the Morning

  • Do you enjoy cleaning?

I don’t like cleaning at all (dusting, vacuuming, etc.), but I don’t mind organizing. I actually semi-enjoyed organizing our pantry yesterday. And it looks rockin’ today!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I’m afraid to start cleaning…once I start, I’m buried for days in reorganizing! Ha! Love the dress from your stitch-fix!

Have you ever gotten a stitch fix where you didn’t keep anything? I tried it once and everything was too big and very expensive so I had to eat the $20 styling fee, which kind of scared me into not trying it again! Maybe I’ll have to give it another shot.

I am the same way! Cleaning is just not natural for me, but I do like to organize…which sometimes flips into the cleaning side, when I usually go all out! Maybe I should just do small clean-ups more often? Ah well

I wouldn’t say I like to clean, but I am very OCD about my house being clean so I do it pretty consistently!

I love to clean! I cleaned/organized houses and offices the last two summers when no places were hiring! It ended up being very successful.

I HATE cleaning!I love the feeling I get after I do a great job cleaning but the motivation is never there When I do that in that “zone” it feels really good, but it doesn’t happen often enough haha.

I found a great thing on Pinterest that schedules cleaning by day to help make it more manageable. Now, just have to do it!

I am not a huge fan of cleaning but I do it because I go crazy when the house is a mess.

I don’t like cleaning or organizing very much, so I’m pretty proud that I got a bit of each done this weekend as well. It’s totally worth the work to have a clean, clutter-free house!

I looooathe folding and putting away laundry! Clean a toilet, I’m on it….a pile of laundry to be put away, let it stack up.

My hubby and I love pizza and eat it at least once a week, but feel the same way when it comes to cheese! Its gotta be there….

I do the exact same thing with cleaning! When I’m on a roll, I just go with it because who knows when it will come back again. Most weeks I have to force myself to get cleaning. I especially love having my place all clean and ready for the new week!

i am a cleaning addict! i clean anything my hands come in contact with…cell phones, computer keyboards, phone receivers, door knobs, my steering wheel, the fridge at work (i pitch expired food & wipe down the fridge quite often with anti-bac wipes), desks i sit at because i work at a different building each day. i am a favored houseguest at many friends’ homes. schools are the filthiest places on earth…trust me. the only surfaces that get cleaned on a daily basis in the buildings that i work in are student desks and maybe the faculty lunchroom tables.

I’m the type who cleans the “regular” stuff (toilets, sinks, mirrors) regularly (and vacuums), but I get in a bad habit of not putting things away when I get home from work. It’s so easy to just let things pile up. Need to get better about that!

Can’t stand cleaning on a good day, but I definitely get moods where I have to clean, and when I do, my house starts to look like a regular person lives there. We just got our washer fixed, so I’ve been doing tons of laundry today (I hate laundromats!), and this will be the catalyst for cleaning everything else. I just know it.

I love cleaning when I’m stressed. It helps clear my mind and I think knowing that something is clean relieves a bit of pent up tension!

I am not a huge cleaner either. It kind of depends on the type of cleaning. I don’t mind sweeping or vacuuming, but when it comes to scrubbing the potty..I run!

I can’t say I love *cleaning*, but I do love things being clean. I’m kind of a “tidier” more than a cleaner. In fact, I tend to tidy messes without even a second thought so much so that my husband jokes that I would take his plate off the table before he is done eating if he didn’t keep an eye on it! I’m sure once I have kids, this habit will be broken, ha ha.

Cleaning is one of my relaxers if you catch me on the right day. Being in a tidy environment makes me feel so happy and also makes me work better. With saying that, I need to give our apartment some love this weekend! Since the semester started a couple of weeks ago, it has felt like organized chaos for far too long. Organization is one of my favorite things ever! I might make 2014 my year of organizing and minimizing my life – and all the fun stuff in between!
