Merri’s Baby Shower

April 4, 2022 by Julie 10 Comments

Monday is here! How are you guys doing? I hope you had a fun and relaxing weekend. My weekend certainly was a fun one due, in large part, to the fact that I spent it with some of my best friends from college.

Most of us were together two months ago in Breckenridge for a ski vacation and we agreed that seeing each other every two months is ideal. Not at all practical… but ideal!

It felt like we didn’t miss a beat from our last trip together and it was so great to have time with my friends and meet some new additions. My friend Krystal brought her two-month-old boy with her (she’s also a mom of three boys!) and my friend Cherayne’s 8-month-old little boy came for the weekend as well.

It was wonderful to meet their sons for the first time and I’m convinced my friends produce the calmest, chillest babies in the world. They were the sweetest little guys and got a lot of love from our crew!

As I mentioned on Friday, our trip to Connecticut centered around celebrating Merri and Andrew’s baby!

They’re expecting a little boy or girl in May and Merri’s baby shower was so very Merri! Her twin sister Liz’s house was filled with the most beautiful flowers (arranged by her friend who should most definitely do floral arrangements as a business!) and included wonderful food, a Bloody Mary bar, champagne, cake and the most incredible doughnuts.

Games were not high on Merri’s list but she approved one game and it was hilarious.

Liz custom designed the scratch-off cards through this Etsy shop and they cracked us up.

Each scratch-off revealed a different celebrity man and if you were the one who scratched off the REAL dad (Andrew — the face on the left of the above photos), you won a prize! (My baby daddy was Kanye. Gah!)

After the shower, our group of college girls and Merri’s sisters hung out at the house for hours and hours chatting, drinking wine, eating Thai and leftover cake and doughnuts. Eventually we made our way back to our hotel before calling it a night and catching flights back home to our families the next morning.

It was a fast but wonderful weekend and I cannot wait to meet Merri and Andrew’s little one soon!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That looks like a beautiful shower and I love the scratch off game! I remember you saying that your group of college friends all have boys so it will be so interesting to find out if Merri has a boy or a girl!

Hi Julie – love your blog! I am coming to Charlotte soon with my kids ranging from 6-13. Wondering what your favorite outings are there to do with kids, or any family favorite restaurants you suggest? Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Hi Elizabeth! I think your kids’ ages would be perfect for Discovery Place Science! It’s an awesome kid-friendly museum with a TON of hands-on exhibits that appeal to young and older children. For breakfast, Sunflour is a favorite — they have great coffee and breakfast sandwiches/pastries and we love getting our food to go and taking it to Freedom Park! If your family likes pizza, Inizio is so good!!

    You are very welcome Julie.
    Reading your blog for years.
    Before any kiddos!!!
You are one of the nicest, and sweetest ladies out of all the blogs I try and read.
For sure, your parents did the most amazing job bringing up/teaching, you and your sister how to love & live your life. A very special family!!!
Your gorgeous boys will be likewise.
    They are soooo lucky!!!
