Ponzu Chicken

April 4, 2012 by Julie 25 Comments

I knew what I was making for dinner tonight ever since 5:30 a.m. today!

When I saw a recipe in the latest Cooking Light magazine for a simple ponzu sauce at the gym this morning, I figured I could use it to kick up the flavor of the chicken tenders I had in my fridge.

I followed the recipe fairly closely, but doubled it and added two chopped garlic cloves and some ginger to the mix and nixed the green onion because I didn’t have one on hand.

I sautéed the chicken tenders and sliced them up once they were completely cooked through and let them soak up all the sauce for a bit.

I served the chicken atop roasted broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

The sauce added a salty and sweet flavor to the dish that I absolutely loved. It takes a lot for me to really love chicken (I find it kind of boring), but this sauce did the trick!

Off to watch New Girl! I’ve heard fantastic things from you guys about last night’s episode and can’t want to cue it up on the DVR!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I LOVE broccoli in a stir fry. I like how it gets soggy with the sauce (well that doesn’t sound too appetizing I admit). Dinner looked great!!!

Ginger is an ingredient I don’t have around often. I need to get some and try it out on some dishes. New girl is hilarious! Definitely a regular on the DVR

I find chicken kind of dull too! I only like it from time to time, sometimes the taste just doesn’t settle well with me. Thanks for another idea for a way to prepare it

We just watched the new New Girl too. Too funny! I think Nick is in the running for my fave character but they all have quirky personality traits that I love

I was so excited when I saw all of those sauce recipes in Cooking Light! I can’t wait to try some. That ponzu looks delicious.

Also, New Girl is great! I was on the fence after the first couple of episodes, but now I’m hooked.

the sauce looks good! My hubby and I love that show the new girl, we usually will get some good laughs about it, along the lines of the big bang theory. We don’t watch too much tv but have those on the dvr when we are in the mood!

That sauce sounds delicious — but I just can’t eat chicken lately! I don’t know what happened, I used to think it was dull, then I enjoyed it and now I can’t smell it, taste it or be near it!

That dinner looks so good! You are great about making good dinners, I am so bad about making real dinners, I usually end up snacking through dinner.

Your meal looks so good! What a great combination. I hope you enjoyed New Girl – it was sooo awkward and hilarious. I was thinking that there’s no way I could ever work on that set because I would be cracking up ALL the time. Jess in that ski mask… too funny.

I’m with ya…chicken can be so boring! And yet, since I gave up meat for Lent…I have been dying to have it! And bacon…that will be the first thing I eat

Loving the blue napkin and dish…so springy! Have an awesome day lady!
