Run In with The Bachelor’s Emily

January 31, 2012 by Julie 87 Comments

It feels rather nice to know that my life will be returning to normal today!

I allowed myself to sleep in this morning and catch up on some much-needed rest after my trip to New York City. I’m hoping to sneak in a lunchtime workout after I drive back to Ocala, but even though I skipped my morning workout, I made sure to return to my healthy habits when it came to selecting breakfast.

Last night I prepared a batch of blueberry overnight oats and baked some of my favorite homemade almond butter granola.

Sometimes a little forethought makes breakfast a breeze!

I am also nearly three quarters of the way through a pint of fresh blueberries that I started snacking on as I sat down at my computer. Apparently today is blueberry breakfast day!

Run-In with The Bachelor’s Emily

Those of you who follow me on Twitter and Facebook know about something a little crazy that happened to me yesterday.

This Bachelor-lovin’ girl just happened to be seated directly in front of Emily from this season’s Bachelor on my first flight from New York City to Charlotte, North Carolina where I had a layover!

emily bachelor

I was reading my new book and just happened to glance up as she was walking by and recognized her, but couldn’t place where I knew her from until after a minute or two when it hit me!

I turned around and said, ā€œExcuse me, do you happen to be on The Bachelor this season?ā€

She smiled and laughed, saying that she was Emily.

Emily was extremely friendly, especially after I told her that I totally agreed with her about her feelings toward nut-job Courtney. She said that it was painful to watch last week’s episode when all the Courtney drama went down and I felt for her, especially since she was so laid back, smiley and normal in person.

Then the flight attendants went through their whole safety spiel and I didn’t bother her for the entire flight… but I couldn’t let my fellow Bachelor fans down and not talk to her a bit more after we landed. Puh-lease.

We actually ended up talking about her future plans (she isn’t after Hollywood fame and hopes to work in her field after she graduates with her PhD in epidemiology in April) and other random non-Bachelor related things and I left the plane telling her ā€œgood luckā€ with The Bachelor, if she really wants it since Ben is losing his luster for me this season.

Kind of crazy, huh?

My random run-in with Emily made it even more fun to watch last night’s episode, though I was so sad to see who went home. (I won’t write her name out here just in case any of you DVRed it and are waiting to watch.)

Time to hit the road. I can’t wait to be reunited with Ryan and Sadie!

Why do I NEVER get anyone fun on my flights? Then again, I’m too much of a goof to even say hello, so it would be pointless anyway! Haha!

Oh, how fun is that!?! Glad you got to chat it up with Emily. She seems like a great girl. I DVR’d last night’s episode, so THANK YOU for not spilling the beans.

Omigosh thanks for the scoop on Emily! I really like her (and not just because we share the same name) and feel like she is just trying to be honest and forthcoming about the Courtney stuff- unfortunately, it’s ultimately hurting her and I was shocked that Ben kept her around and got rid of that other girl!

I love that you took a moment to talk to her. Despite how friendly and normal she seems, I still don’t think I could muster up enough to talk to her. I’m glad that she seems as friendly in-person as I have assumed she is.

And thanks for not spoiling anything…

I can’t believe you met someone from the Bachelor! I haven’t ever actually watched it, but all this talk about makes me think I should start – I love some juicy reality TV!

Now i wonder if I have ever actually seen a “celebrity” in person and just not known it. I mean there have been about a million and one reality shows, I might have seen a “star” and not realized it because I don’t watch the show!

    Julie!!!

So great meeting you on the plane yesterday! Sorry I wasn’t super-talkative; they’re pretty strict about what we can say about the show while it’s still airing. Plus, I’d had about 2 hours of sleep the night before – NYC will do that to you :).

I’ve looked around your blog, and I just love it! Can’t wait to try some of the recipes – especially those red velvet brownies. YUM!!!

Thanks again for the kind words. It was so nice meeting you!

That is sooo cool that you met her! I’m guess she’s not with Ben…but I think I know who he picks, and I’m not very happy about it! And what’s up with his hair? He doesn’t look very attractive anymore, haha.

I’m guessing*…and her comment is right above mine, I feel bad for saying that now! If you’re not with him, Emily, you deserve better :). If you are, then I hope things are well!!

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!! I wish you asked her if crazypants Courtney was really as evil as the show is making her out to be. How could anyone be so crazy and evil?? It has to be fake, no?

Ben lost so much appeal last night, and I think Courtney has him so wrapped around her finger that Emily would never get thru to him. It’s got to be hard on her to see it play out after living it. But it sounds like she has her act together so that’s nice to hear!

OMG i was so sad when (youknowwho) went home last night too. I couldn’t believe it. I thought they had such a good connection! Why would he send her home and keep some of those other girls? It makes no sense. And I <3 Emily and think it is great that she is standing up for something she cares about despite it being hard. I honestly hope she ends up with someone other than Ben. He is a turd. She deserves better.

I like Emily a lot but doubt she will be around much longer. She needs to stop talking to Ben all the time about Courtney…she is starting to annoy him.
