Things I’m Loving Friday #357

January 29, 2021 by Julie 18 Comments

Friday is here! Woop, woop! I hope you guys had a good week. We had a good one over here and I’m looking forward to some family time this weekend. Assuming the weather holds up, we are hoping to make our way to an open field to do some more rocket launches this weekend with the boys since the boys loved it so much when we first attempted to launch our model rockets back in August.

Before signing off for the day, I wanted to share my weekly roundup of favorites, Thing I’m Loving Friday style. As always, feel free to join in and tell me about something you’re loving this week in the comments sections. I hope you have a great weekend!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • Sadie’s 13th Birthday + Sadie’s Annual Food Challenge

sadie

Our sweet and sassy Sadie girl turned 13 last Wednesday! We joke that Sadie is getting more crotchety and set in her ways as she gets older (our little sugar-faced senior now refuses to get out of bed before 9 a.m.) but her Fagan Family Fan Club is only growing. Chase, Ryder and Rhett love their furry big sister BIG and even if the love is unrequited at times, Sadie is and always will be my needy, snuggly BFF. I still cannot believe she’s been in my life since I was 22! Thank goodness she will live forever and ever.

We celebrated Sadie’s birthday with our annual tradition — Sadie’s birthday food challenge! This year it was the Fight of the Fowl as Chase suggested we pit turkey against chicken to see which one would reign supreme. There’s not much Sadie loves more than chicken, so none of us were too shocked when she made a beeline for chicken! At the ripe old age of 13, she knows her favorites!

  • Simple Modern Tumbler

Simple Modern Tumbler pink

This Simple Modern tumbler has quite the loyal following on Instagram (and nearly 27,000 positive reviews on Amazon), and since I have an odd obsession with water bottles and tumblers, I pulled the plug and ordered the 24-ounce version (with a lid) in pink. The price point is great and I love slender design, the way it keeps drinks cold for hours and how it easily fits into the cupholder of my car. It’s a great find for sure! And a quick note to anyone with little ones out there — Simple Modern makes a ton of kid cups and water bottles that I’ve heard give the children’s YETI bottles a run for their money! I love including a new cup/water bottle in the boys’ Easter baskets (or even as a Valentine’s Day surprise), so I just wanted to put that on your radar in case you’re in the market and are the same way!

  • BodyPump Single-Song Finishers

I am still trucking along with my garage workouts 3-4 times a week and now that my 12-week postpartum fitness program is done, I am enjoying putting together some of my own workouts again. I’m continuing to focus on strength training and changed things up this week by doing 30(ish) minute workouts that focus primarily on one or two muscle groups. Anyway, I say all of this to say that I started looking up throwback BodyPump tracks on YouTube to do at the end of my workouts this week as a “finisher” of sorts and LOVED it! On Wednesday, I did this biceps track and this triceps track after a biceps and triceps workout and my arms were feelin’ the burn like crazy. I miss BodyPump a ton so this has been a fun way to incorporate one of my favorite classes into my home workouts in some small way.

  • $50 Stitch Fix Credit!

I recently received an email from Stitch Fix with the best offer I’ve seen from them! They’re currently offering free $50 credit to any new customers who would like to try the styling service. (The credit can be used on all fixes — women’s, men’s and children’s fixes all apply!) I’ve been a fan of Stitch Fix for years and have even used it for Ryan, Chase and Ryder. They do a great job of listening to your requests and continually send me quality apparel and accessories within the budget I’ve allotted for my items. A lot of my favorite items from Chase’s wardrobe came from Stitch Fix and Ryder and Rhett will reap the benefit of these adorable finds, too!

  • Friday Flashbacks

Vegetarian Chickpea Curry (We made this recipe earlier this week and it’s just the BEST for getting a lot of veggies into a meal in a very tasty way.)

Vegetarian Chickpea Curry

Quinoa Tabbouleh Salad (This is the perfect meal prep recipe to have on hand for lunches throughout the week. Love it topped with a little grilled chicken or salmon, too!)

Also on the body pump, I just started seeing Les Mills ads on Instagram. They have a 30 day trial that I’m going to try and it includes a whole bunch of body pump classes! Some of my coworkers and I used to go after work together, so I figure this could be a fun virtual thing for us

I am loving the Sydney Cummings youtube workouts. I have been working out with her since about March and she is super positive and motivating and has great workout programs. I think she is from Charlotte. Maybe you have heard of her? She focuses mostly on strength training. I loved bodypump too. I’m going to look up some of their past videos. How fun!

I’m enjoying just being home after a 6 night hospital stay for a bad infection of my feeding tube. Being away from my family and them not able to visit is making me appreciate the simple things like hanging out at home and talking. On a positive note, it has been 18 months since a long string of hospitalizations (140 days over 15 month time span) so I’m hoping this was just a small blip in the road.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Hey Julie! Could you tell me a little bit more about your postpartum fitness plan? I am 34 weeks with our second, and would love something to ease back into working out this next go round. THANK YOU!
