Tuna Salad Remix

June 28, 2010 by Julie 31 Comments

First things first, I am in the market for a new food processor since my Cuisinart food processor decided to stop working after less than 10 uses. Fun!

Please let me know if you have a food processor that you love because I want to get one with a longer lifespan this time around.

I’ve visited many websites searching for a good one, including the CSN stores site (that literally has everything from twin beds to blenders) because the company has offered to let me pick out a product for $60 or less, and I’m thinking this Hamilton Beach Chef Prep 10 Cup food processor seems right up my alley. Anyone out there have this model? I hope it’s a good one!

Lunch

Onto the food fun!

Today’s lunch included tuna salad that was a bit different from the tuna salad I usually make.

Tuna Salad Remix

I combined a packet of StarKist Tuna Creations sweet & spicy tuna with a large squirt of light Miracle Whip.

StarKist Tuna Creations

I topped a whole wheat Pepperidge Farms deli flat with the tuna salad and a large handful of spinach to complete my tuna sandwich.

On the side I enjoyed fresh cucumber slices that were nice and cool (…as a cucumber ) and grape tomatoes for some added nutrition.

Tomaters

Sadie was more than a little intrigued…

"That Tuna Smells Deeelightful!"

The Whole She-Bang

Cucumbers + tomatoes = Perfect summer produce

Question of the Afternoon

What kitchen appliance do you use most often?

I use my blender the most, but my griddle is definitely a close second! Let’s hope that once I get a decent food processor, that’ll be high on my list, too!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I use my french press every morning (or I should say, my husband does as he’s in charge of the morning coffee!). I also use my blender about every other day.

I can’t believe the Cuisinart would give up so quickly! Wow. That was on my wish list, too….
I use the juicer and the vitamix about equally in our house – every single day, at least once

I have the Kitchen Aid 12 cup, which I love for many reasons:

    It is PINK.

It is LARGE. (and has an insert for a SMALL bowl + blade for smaller amounts).

It came with this box of all kind of crazy blades that do awesome things.

It is PINK. (oh. yeah. I have a thing for pink…)

…and it is definitely the appliance I use most often, that and my beloved Vitamix.

I love my blender, and I use it all the time! I don’t think I could survive the summer without being able to whip up some smoothies to cool off with.

mix between my little brothers blender and a grill. Does the grill count as a kitchen item? It’s used for food prep but it’s not in the kitchen so hmmmm. . .

I use my Kitchenaid Hand Mixer a lot. I have a stand mixer too, but I only use that when I’m making a big batch of cookies.

Def my blender. Though it is a plane ol 40$ blender. I need an upgrade stat. But I will wait a while save up for the vitamix or the blendtec. I also want a juicer that i know I would use all the time. I too am shopping around for a new food processor. I’m looking into the 7cup Kitchen Aid one.

Julie- CALL THEM! They will send you a new one. Cuisinart has great customer service. I had one of their coffee makers stop working after a year and they sent me a brand new one. I just had to pay shipping ($10) and send the other one back. (haven’t done that quite yet).

Before they sent the new one they also sent me a new part for free to see if that would help fix the problem.

    Here is their number:
    1-800-726-0190

    Definitely call!

I had the same problem with my cuisinart food processor! Except mine stopped after 2 uses. And it was a gift so I couldn’t take it back! Luckily I got a new one for Christmas!

I use my Coffe Maker (of course) the most often, followed by my blender for green smoothies. I love that flavor of tuna you featured! I have such wierd creations..lately I have been adding together: a can of tuna, salt, pepper, mixed sungarden sprouts, sweet thai chili sauce, and a few blue corn chip pieces in the mix….I put that thai sweet chili sauce on EVERYTHING..I love the combo of spicy and sweet. I use it as a dipping sauce for veggies and sweet potato fries, as a salad dressing, in my wraps…

Did you try making sure the bowl and lid were both locked? I stand by my Cuisinarts! I’ve had the mini one for 6 years and the big 14 cup one for more than 3 years and use them often withou a hitch! My mom even has her big Cuisinart from over 20 years ago and it’s still chuggin’. Sometimes with the smaller food processors, they give out sooner because the motor in them is so small so when they’re used on frozen things then they have to “work” harder, but not after 10 uses and I’ve used my mini on frozen bananas and to make peanut butter without trouble….maybe yours going out was just a fluke!

Hi! If you’re looking for a good food processor, check out Cook’s Illustrated’s equipment reviews. In the past year I’ve started to rely on them for all my kitchen equipment buys (they do pretty thorough testing & they don’t always find the most expensive is the best!) Their top recommendation for a food processor is the KitchenAid Professional KFP750 12-Cup Food Processor… it’s a little on the pricey side, but perhaps it’s a good addition to your registry? (congrats on your engagement!) I only have a mini-Cuisinart that I use for making dips & chopping nuts for Christmas cookies – I’ve had it for 3 years and it’s been pretty reliable. Sorry you had a bad experience with yours!

I love my Ninja! Its like a multi-purpose blender/food processer thing. I just use the blender to make protein ice cream and smoothies and it works so well! Makes things nice and creamy. I imagine the food processer would work just as well.
