A No on the Ruching

April 2, 2012 by Julie 124 Comments

Getting caught up is what Mondays are all about around here.

I spent the morning at the computer as usual and eventually broke for lunch around noon.

roast beef with pear

I fixed myself a simple roast beef sandwich on toasted honey wheat bread with melted muenster cheese, mustard and spinach.

Sides included another sliced pear and my new favorite chips!

Have any of you guys tried Popcorners chips?

I bought them on a whim last week and am so impressed!

They are perfectly crunchy and packed with flavor without being greasy. I can’t wait to try more flavors, though I’m a little obsessed with the kettle flavor and will have a hard time not just buying that one over and over again.

Bathing Suits: A No on the Ruching

After lunch, I got around to trying on the bathing suits that arrived in the mail for me over the weekend.

I ordered two different bikinis from Victoria’s Secret in hopes of having a new suit for our upcoming cruise at the end of the month. I haven’t purchased a new bathing suit in several years. I tend to order them online and buying a bikini online is quite a guessing game, so they often get returned.

Fortunately one of the suits is a keeper, but the other one was definitely not.

Riiight.

That bathing suit looked like it offered a lot more coverage online and I didn’t notice the ruching down the middle of the butt on the Victoria’s Secret website. What is that? A stitched-in butt crack?

I’m sure it would look adorable on some, but on me it looked ridiculous and it’s already packed up and ready to be sent back.

I’m just glad I got one winner! I’m so picky when it comes to bathing suits (aren’t we all?), so I was relieved to at least find one that will do.

Back to work!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Where do you typically buy your bathing suits?

I typically get my suits from Victoria’s Secret or Target. I love the suits at Everything But Water, but they come with a hefty price tag!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I need my swimsuits to be able to SWIM! Anything that is challenging keeping in place to cover the lady parts when just standing still is a no-go for me

I also have to deal with the chestal region size being larger than the bottom region size, so I love, love, love stores that offer swimsuits as separates. My current favorites are Venus (ditto to a former poster on the halters!), Athleta, and Title Nine. Pretty much anything a surfer girl who doesn’t want horrid tan lines would choose = A-OK in my book.

LOVE those chips! I tried them in the white cheddar flavor and it was amazing!!! I seriously couldn’t control myself and ate the entire bag.

I’ve been less than impressed with the quality of the victoria’s secret swimsuits for the price. I haven’t bought a swimming suit since we lived in Honolulu in 2007.

I haven’t bought a bathing suit in YEARS! I always find them so expensive considering how little I will wear it!

I love the Gianni Bini collection at Dillards – they are little more pricey but worth it because they usually fit really well and last for years!

Hahaha that’s hilarious! I have had a similar problem with an online bikini order, and it was from VS! Wow are those bottoms… cheeky!

I usually buy mine from VS, but love Swell.com and Target too.

haha I actually have the swimsuit you returned. I actually liked the runching and ruffle effect. It gave more attention to my bootay since I have no (small) boobies and the ruffles on the top of the swimsuit makes it look like I have more boobage than I do haha However my boyfriend made me promise I would only wear that swimsuit if I was with him, wonder why?
