A Wonderful Birthday Surprise

April 27, 2015 by Julie 69 Comments

At 8:06 a.m., I turned 30 years old! It’s crazy to me to think that my 20s are officially over. I cannot help but feel a little sad and nostalgic about that fact, especially since my 20s were filled with so many amazing memories… Graduating college, welcoming Sadie into our lives, getting engaged and marrying Ryan, seeing this blog morph into something I never could have imagined, traveling, moving (several times!), buying our first home, etc.

It’s hard to imagine my 30s being filled with as much excitement but as I sit here at my computer in a quiet moment and feel the baby boy in my belly give me a little kick, I am filled with a wonderful feeling inside that’s telling me some pretty incredible experiences await me in my 30s.

Today

My birthday kicked off with the most amazing birthday surprise. I woke up this morning and had a text message from my best friend Laurel that included a link she told me to download. Before I knew it, I was watching a video filled with photos from different times in my life, interspersed with the sweetest video messages from my closest friends and family.

30th Birthday Video

The video was, hands down, one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received in my life and I watched it two times in a row with tears in my eyes. To all of my friends and family who took the time to contribute to this wonderful gift, I cannot thank you enough! And Laurel, you are the most amazing friend. Thank you for being the best friend in the world for 12+ years!

As you can see, I began my 30th birthday feeling very loved. And I owe that feeling to you guys, too! Thanks for your kind birthday wishes!! I appreciate it very much.

My morning began with some cuddles from Sadie and a card and a surprise from Ryan (I am psyched for a prenatal massage!). And then I sipped on a strawberry banana smoothie for breakfast while watching my video.

I then typed up my morning blog post, headed off to the gym to work and managed to sneak out a little early for a BodyPump class.

It felt great to get lost in the music for an hour and once I was done, I drove to Chipotle to grab lunch and swung by our house to eat and say hi to Ryan and Sadie.

When I pulled up to our house, I saw a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for me on our doorstep from three of my best friends from high school. What a sweet surprise!

I watered the flowers and opened the presents my mom was sweet enough to ship my way from my family. I am already loving the smell of the Volcano Capri Blue candle she sent to me from Anthropologie. Fantastic!

After lunch, I headed back into work for a few hours and now I’m home for a hot second before it’s time for me to take Ryan to a physical therapy appointment. I hope your Monday afternoon is going well and that you all have a lovely evening. Thank you again for the sweet birthday wishes!

Happy birthday, my love! So glad your birthday was special and one for the books. I love the video idea. Can Laurel whisper over to my friends and tell them I’d love that for my 30th? Ga-reat.

Hope you munched on lots of delicious gummy candy yesterday along with that Chipotle. You make 30 look goooood!

Julie, do you know the name of the video or app that Laurel used to create the birthday video? I’d love to send something similar to a very dear friend… These types of gifts are the very best. Thank you! ?
